Reiki: Experience Relief and Deep Transformation
“Acupuncture without the Needles”
Reiki: The human body and mind emit electromagnetic energy, which science has measured for several years. Both the heart and brain emit constant signals, which vary depending on the individual’s physical and emotional health. The magnetic field produced by the heart is more than 100 times greater in strength than the field generated by the brain, and can be detected up to 3 feet away from the body, in all directions, using SQUID-based magnetometers (Heartmath Institute).
The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning “universal,” and “ki,” meaning “vital life force energy that flows through all living things.”
Reiki has been described as “acupuncture without the needles,” because it changes the flow of energy in the body, in a similar way to acupuncture, but without needles or other tools.
The modern system of Reiki was developed in the early 1900’s, but similar systems were probably practiced much earlier. Today, Reiki is practiced all over the world, as a therapy to increase overall wellness, and assist in the clearing of energetic and emotional blocks. See our Reiki in Hospitals page for more information on where Reiki is practiced in hospitals in the U.S.
